he thinks the only roesan they print them to still is to make advertising $$ but seriously, who advertises in the phone book? I guess I should pick up one of the 1800 books on my street and find out, huh?
Prats, I do think people have a cchioe in how they deal with the customers. If someone tells them they are not interested politely, why not accept that and stop harrassing them? I have had a few telemarketers say ok after I tell them straight up I'm not interested. On the other hand, there are some individuals and personality types who won't give and continue to harrass others. I don't see a need to be polite to these individuals. And sorry, but I don't agree that telemarketing is a stressful job...it doesn't deal with life or death situations like police, doctors or nurses do. It doesn't deal with face to face aggression like psychologists or teachers have to deal with. It's over the phone and there is a distance there.Secondly, she was calling me at an odd hour as Saturday is a weekend. I know they work in India but they don't work in most countries. It would be like calling someone in the Middle East on a Thursday or Friday which is the weekend there and saying it's okay. And finally, in terms of me stating that I am Australian, I have never made it a secret here that I feel more Aussie than Indian. Sure, I was born in India. But to be honest, I have never been attached to the country. I lived in Oman for about 5 years when I was a child. And the 15 years in India were memorable more so for friends, family and food. Not for my love for the country. I never felt any sense of patriotism or belonging on Independence Day or Republic Day --- to me they were just always Public holidays. But since coming to Australia, I find I am more attached to this country, I feel a sense of pride at our achievements...something that never occurred when I was in India. I get goosebumps when our National anthem is sung. I feel proud of my country on Australia Day. I guess, in short, given that I have never been attached to India, it was easy to be detached on leaving it. And while you may find that unusual, it can happen.
